2016 {Week 2}

Playing ‘Catch Up’!   2016  Week 2

I’m curious to see where photography takes me in 2016. Discovering a hobby and developing a passion for it can be a blessing and a curse. For me, photography is both of those things. It’s been a blessing to be able to explore a creative outlet, to escape while being absorbed in the entire process, a way to relax, and a broad subject to learn. It was a rich way to spend my time after moving far from family, friends, and familiar surroundings. It prompted me to explore places I may not have otherwise sought out. I have often said it was my sanity after moving. But, it has also been a bit of a curse. During those days when I felt I had absolutely not one drop of creativity in my blood, no ideas for a shoot, no motivation to push forward with my learning. At those times, it was not relaxing nor an escape. Definitely not.

I’ve come to a place where I’m usually confident with the technical aspects, yet I do have more to learn. Flash is one of those things for sure! I’m much fussier about light, yet I will still shoot even though I know the outcome will be less than I desire. Such has been the case this January. Overcast skies. Flat light. I still explored and photographed even when the light was dull. I also explored the genre of still life indoors.

So, that’s how 2016 has started for me. Here are a few of the images I captured during the second week of the new year.
