Aspens in Yellow | northern California landscape photographer

Autumn! Like many of you, it's my favorite time of year. After a warm summer (okay, HOT), the cooling temperatures are welcome. Crisp mornings and cool evenings with lovely, comfortable days. They're the best! But those changing colors are what I really look forward to in fall. I'm always amazed at the richness of the yellows, reds, and oranges with their varying tones. None are more beautiful than aspens showing off their intense yellow.About a month ago I managed to squeeze in a quick trip to the southeastern Sierra to view the color there. Having never visited that area before, I really didn't know what to expect. Although, I'd heard that it was a fantastic place for viewing aspens, fall color, and unique landscape. I just love the aspens' white trunks, sometimes curved, with the dark gray markings. They're the perfect backdrop for showing off those vibrant yellow colors.

“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.”

~ Lauren DeStefano, Wither
