Backyard Birds | northern California nature photographer
When I visited my friend Kathy Roberts of Kathleen Roberts Photography, she had a bird feeder just off her backyard deck that attracted the most beautiful songbirds. So, of course, I had to have one too. When I got home, we went shopping for our very own bird feeder. It took weeks for the birds to find it. It was rather exasperating! But, I'm happy to say we have many backyard birds visiting our feeder now.Please don't tell anyone, but I've never really ever been a big bird fan. (Not to be confused with Big Bird - yellow, tall, you know.) Don't misunderstand. I liked birds just fine, but never really had a curiosity about them. They just really had no allure to me, except for humming birds. (Really, can humming birds be considered the same as other birds? I think not.) However, I have adjusted my attitude about them all now.Anyway, I've found that I really enjoy observing these backyard birds. We always look to see if any new species are visiting. We even have the binoculars out and ready by the kitchen window just to keep a close eye on them. Nature always amazes!
