Bokeh After the Rain | northern California Fine Art Photographer

Achieving an out of focus background with those wonderful little circles of light is an often sought after effect for many photographers. Count me as one of them. While taking a morning drive looking for my subject, I stopped along the side of the road to capture the raindrops clinging to the mustard weed with my macro lens. By getting down low and very close to the weed, I was able to not only photograph the water droplets, but also the raindrop bokeh. It was created by the light reflecting on the water droplets attached to the weeds in the background. The very last picture was taken by simply standing up and framing the scene before me. The weeds were at my feet so I was essentially shooting over them. I'm always pleased when I can find more that one perspective in a location. So, remember to look around and try different things before you leave a location.
