Dried Purple Flowers

There is something about these dried purple flowers that remind me of my grandmother. I'm not sure why. Did she grow them in her garden when I was little? I don't remember her having them there. Is it the color? Well, that could be. I seem to recall her wearing purple and periwinkle blue from time to time. Is it because they are a long-standing garden staple? Maybe that, too. Maybe for all those reasons, or none of them, they remind me of her.As I was organizing my office, putting away books from summer, notebooks, Grandma's handwritten cookbook, I decided to bundle them and decorate with dried purple flowers - Bachelor Buttons. I like the way they bought out the blue in the gray book covers. Sometimes, you just never know where or when a still life subject will present itself.
