Farewell, November

This particular morning started as most do with a hot cup of coffee, the news, and a scan of Facebook and Instagram. It was quiet since I'm the first one up. It’s time to say ' farewell, November ' and jump into December. So, it was nice to enjoy a quiet morning.When I got up to refill my coffee, I opened the blinds and saw the best thing ever!  FOG! I love shooting in fog and I couldn't believe my eyes. Throwing on my clothes as quickly as I could, I grabbed my camera, and out the door I went. I walked down the dirt road that runs along the side of the walnut orchard to the back of our property to the slough. The fog was fantastic! It was thick, yet the sun was making it's way through so it didn't seem gloomy as fog sometimes does.The trees are never more beautiful than when the leaves are this deep, rich yellow. Sadly, it doesn't last very long.  Just a couple of days and then they are off the trees and on the ground turning brown. But, this morning - this morning - they were perfection!

I was reminded of Joyce Kilmer's poem.

Trees

I think that I shall never see

A poem as lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest

Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,

And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear

A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;

Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,

But only God can make a tree.

Farewell, November

 Kind of sad to say ' farewell, November ' when she looks as gorgeous as this.

Goodbye November
