Gardening Apron | northern California photographer

In addition to pouring over gardening books waiting for the weather to improve enough to plant the garden, I busied myself with various projects.  One of those projects was sewing a gardening apron. I thought it might be beneficial to have an apron to help keep my clothes clean. But having a few pockets to keep things handy seemed like a good idea as well. So I searched the internet for a pattern, but didn't really find what I thought I wanted. I did find a pattern for a bistro apron, made a few modifications, and created just the gardening apron I wanted.

Rather than use linen, I opted for some heavy mattress ticking, a small piece of dark denim for the pockets, and some heavy duty cotton tape for the ties.  I did not include the metal rings for adjusting the neck-strap. I also adjusted the length a bit. And, I'm pretty happy with the result.

Now that the weather has settled down, the garden area is worked and planted. Yay! I've got a brand new gardening apron all ready. Let the gardening begin!

Kiss of the sun for pardon.

Song of the birds for mirth.

You’re closer to God’s heart in a garden

than any place else on earth.
