Positive comments and affirmation of my work are always nice to receive. I enjoy chatting with others who have an interest in photography or other creative outlets as well. And, if they love my work, so much the better! But, receiving critique and an assessment of my photography by informed/trained people is a tool by which I can improve my work. Enter the juried gallery show. I decided to submit some of my work to juried shows in an effort to see just where I can improve and how educated creatives' observations might help me. And, yes, I wanted to see how my work might stack up against my local (and not so local) peers.I am so pleased to say that I have three pieces currently included in the Sacramento Fine Arts Center 's juried gallery show VISIONS 2017. This has been another learning opportunity for me. Selecting, submitting, and preparing images to be judged requires a skill set I don't often use, but an important one. I already know what I'll do differently next time. Mostly, I need to print more of my landscape and still life work in large formats to see how it translates from computer screen to a printed format. I often print small format, but not large. Interesting to see the difference.Here are the three images that are on display at SFAC in Carmichael.

Nadeen Flynn is an award winning northern California portrait and fine art photographer.
