Nighttime Photography in Pinnacles National Park

The Milky Way season is winding down for a few months here in the northern hemisphere, so when Julia asked if I wanted to join her for some nighttime photography in Pinnacles National Park, I jumped at the chance. We had planned to photograph the night sky on a Saturday evening. Because I'd never been to Pinnacles before, I decided to make it into a camping trip and invited a friend to meet me there for a few days of camping in the park.

Nighttime Photography

The sky was clear and we had wonderful conditions for astrophotography. We hiked in about a mile to the Bear Gulch Reservoir, explored a few compositions, and waited for night to arrive. I managed a few images of the Milky Way both the core and the tail, as well as star trails, and some reflections in the reservoir. All in all, it was a most successful night.Waiting for darkness in Pinnacles National ParkMoonset during astrophotography photography in Pinnacles National ParkNighttime photography in Pinnacles National ParkNighttime photography of Milky Way in Pinnacles National ParkNighttime photography in Pinnacles National ParkNighttime star trails photography in Pinnacles National Park
