If you know me, then you know I like to explore and photograph in cemeteries. I love looking at the dates on the headstones, putting together a possible story about the people who are there, what their lives were like, and how they spent their days.

Toward the top of the rolling hills near the coast, my friend and I discovered yet another cemetery that had been part of the community for a very long time. While the sun was shining maybe a bit too strongly and the breeze was blowing just perfectly, I felt such peace in this lovely location. The headstones in the cemetery were modest although there was plenty of evidence of love and remembrance. Many of the headstones were handmade/carved; some were painted, some were not. I don't usually convert my images, but this set seemed to tell the story best in black and white.
