Wizard's Hat | Bandon | northern California photographer

The rugged Oregon coast never disappoints! One of my new and favorite places to go is Bandon. When I had visited there for the first time last year, I knew there would be lots to photograph with all the sea stacks and rocky landscape. A few even have names. I had heard about the Wizard's Hat and the Howling Dog. What I didn't anticipate, was not being able to recognize them.  Should be no problem, right? Not so much. This year (LUCKY ME!!!) I was personally introduced to one of my favorite landscape photographers, Steven Michael, who happened to be on the Bandon beach on the evening we were there. He asked me about the Wizard's Hat, which I unknowingly had been shooting. I admitted to not being able to recognize it. The he pointed it out to me and took me to stand in just the right place. WOW! How did I not see that before?!In my images below, the first two are what I'd been shooting before talking with Steven. The second two are from just a few steps to the side in order to line up the rock formations just right to create the hat.How cool is that!!!  Nature is so incredible!
