Glacier Bay NP, Alaska - Landscapes & Wildlife
For more years than I can remember, I have wanted to visit Alaska. Seems like a reasonable desire, yet over the years different events prevented that from happening. And, there is always the planning - what area to visit, when can I squeeze it in, how will I travel there, and the questions go on. Finally, this summer, everything aligned and I was able to not only visit part of Alaska, I did it with a photography workshop aboard a vintage 1929 boat/ship, the David B.
Project 365, 2022, Week 25
I visited a somewhat local park to photograph the lotus blossoms, but ended up liking the green foliage just as much. It’s a popular place with so many photographers wishing for that one special lotus image.
Project 365, 2022, Week 24
Project 365, 2022, week 24 was again full of subjects from my yard. Birds and flowers. Flowers and birds. I used my lensbaby Sweet 35 with a 12 mm extension tube to achieve the macro images. The Sigma 150-600mm came in handy to photograph the birds.
Photography Workshops - Why I Attend, and Why I Teach
Attending photography workshops is another one of the best things one can do for their growth as a photographer. (I talked about a Project 365 in an earlier blog post.) A few years ago while attending a photography workshop, I met a veteran professional photographer who was also attending. He owns and operates his own photography store/gallery in a vacation area. He's owned it for years; has supported his family with his photography. I mean, he knows photography. It's been his lifelong career.
Project 365, 2022, Week 23
One of the benefits to shooting everyday is that I am forced to deal with various sources of light. It could be cloudy, bright sun, or golden light coming from different directions depending on the subject and the source of the light. In this Project 365, 2022, Week 23, I had shade, back light, bright sun, and wonderful golden hour light.
