Adventure in Redwood National Park

Registration is now OPEN!

Redwood National Park provides photographers with a wealth of opportunities to create stunning images. From the thick forests to the rocky beaches, we will have an abundance of subjects to photograph.

Join Amy Ames Photography and me on the northern coast of California to explore and photograph the great redwood forests sprinkled with Giant Sequoia, the rocky coastline, the lupine and rhododendron bloom, lush fern beds accented with moss and tiny blossoms, sandy coastline beaches, and so much more. In the early summer months, the fog develops creating an ethereal atmosphere in the forest. When the sun begins to burn through, the beams of light turn the forest into a magical wonderland creating what is affectionately referred to as God Beams. Truly an exciting sight!

Whether you're a professional photographer or an amateur enthusiast, this workshop will offer a remarkable setting to capture awe-inspiring photographs and create lasting memories. With its lush forests, towering trees, rugged coastline, and diverse ecosystems, these parks are a paradise for photographers seeking to capture the beauty of nature.

Recommended clothing

The weather is unpredictable on the coast in May. But due to the cool days, wind, and chance of getting wet (either from the ocean or a rainstorm), we HIGHLY recommend bringing multiple layers of non-cotton clothing, a sturdy rain jacket and rain pants, a warm hat, gloves, lots of changes of socks, and some dry shoes. We will be walking IN a stream at one location, so you will want water shoes or rubber boots in addition to the dry shoes already mentioned. A wide-brim hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, and a large water bottle are also advised.

Fitness level

This workshop is appropriate for photographers of average fitness levels. We will do a lot of walking during the workshop. This includes walking on sandy, rocky, uneven, and slippery terrain or groomed pathways. All participants are expected to be able to carry their camera gear, personal items, and water/snacks during the workshop.

We will accept registration in the order received. Email us now!
