Cape Blanco, Oregon Lighthouse {Sacramento Photographer}

During my Pacific Northwest trip a few years ago I photographed as many of the lighthouses as I could that were within a reasonable driving distance.  Cape Blanco Lighthouse in Oregon was just a short distance away to the south. It was about a 40 minutes drive for me. The weather that morning was overcast and cloudy.  But as usual along the coast the weather changes often.  The access to this historical lighthouse was closed the morning I visited so I didn't get any upclose pictures of the lighthouse itself. However, the surrounding landscape was rugged, full of grasses typical of the coast, dotted a few wildflowers, and had a dramatic view to the south.Some of the things I love about landscape photography are the challenge of the ever changing natural light, the unexpected topography, and the other photographers you meet along the way.  This location was the site of a photography workshop while I was there.  I'm not sure how long they had been there when I arrived. But they left soon after so I had the view to myself. It was a wonderful morning to soak up all mother nature had to offer.  So that's exactly what I did!

Unfortunately, there was a fierce wind and rain storm. That didn't stop us from trying! If you look closely you can see the streaks of rain in the light beams. Cape Blanco Lighthouse at night during a storm
