Chasing Magic | Coffee Table Book

Where do I begin with this story about the Chasing Magic coffee table book? Perhaps it began with my interest in landscape photography several years ago. I had joined a 'for women' photography on-line forum called Clickin' Moms (which is a whole other story in itself). While there, I met Kristen Ryan who was a member of the forum having  a keen sense for landscape photography. Kristen eventually taught a class on the forum called The World Around You which she still teaches there. I took that class during the second or third run, and it really ignited in me a desire to photograph the beautiful world in which we live.

Women Capture Magic - Grand Tetons National Park

Fast forward a few years later, and Kristen started in-person landscape workshop/retreats for women. Of course, I attended her first retreat to the Grand Tetons National Park in September 2017 with several other women; some I knew online, and some were complete strangers. All were incredible, engaging people. I loved our time there and came away with some of my favorite images.Using a tripod and timer, Kristen took this image of us at Signal Mountain.attendees of the Grand Tetons workshop/retreat at Signal MountainFast forward a few more years, and Kristen started her own on-line forum for women who are interested in nature, wildlife, and landscape photography. Many of the members are people who have taken Kristen's online class or attended one of her in-person workshops. For others, word-of-mouth brought them there.

Chasing Magic

A friend of ours, Amy Miller, who is a graphic artist as well as an amazing photographer, was interested in putting together a photography book and approached Kristen about this idea. After putting their heads together and much discussion about all the possibilities and details, the idea for a landscape/nature photography book by women took flight. Women from the forum who wanted to participate submitted images for the book as they would relate to the various chapters. The images were carefully curated and only the most admirable were chosen to be included.
