Death Valley National Park

Death Valley National Park is setting records temperatures this week. It's an amazing place, but not somewhere I want to be at the moment. Maybe December would be a good time to go!

Photography Workshop in Death Valley National Park

I attended my very first landscape photography workshop in Death Valley a few years ago.  WOW!  It was a fantastic experience on so many levels.  We had a knowledgeable instructor and an intelligent, fun group of people with whom to banter and play practical jokes. I learned new techniques for achieving exposure and composition while each lesson built on the previous one.  I've worked on my photography skills a lot since then. So, is it surprising I'd like to go back and see this amazing location through new eyes?Sadly, I've read that some of the locations (like the Race Track) have been compromised during the government shut-down. I do not understand why people deliberately destroy such amazing natural phenomena. And, I suppose I never will. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to returning and photographing this incredible landscape again. These images were taken over a four day period in different locations with different light. One of my favorite locations there was the Dunes. No, the Racetrack. Hmmm, no, maybe the Devil's Golf Course. What can I say? I loved it all!

My best tips for shooting in the desert is to protect yourself from the sun with a hat, sunscreen, and spf clothing if you can. Of course, take plenty of water.
