Garden Full of Tulips | fine art nature photographer
Tulips, with their vibrant hues and delicate petals, have long been cherished as a symbol of beauty and elegance in gardens around the world. In public gardens, these iconic flowers not only add a pop of color but also offer a captivating display that attracts visitors of all ages.
Tulips have long been a favorite flower of mine. I've often been a bit envious of the images I've seen from the tulip fields in Oregon and Washington where there are endless rows and fields of growing tulips. Although I’ve been there, I always wished we had some closer to us in northern California. So, after doing a little research, I found a tulip garden in Nevada City at the Crystal Hermitage Gardens at Ananda Village.
Terraced Tulip Gardens
The garden I found was not a field with rows and rows of tulips, but a beautiful garden setting. Planning a date to go was a little challenging as we were trying to work around the spring rains. When we arrived, there were several other people there, but it wasn't crazy-crowded. Although there were no endless fields of growing tulips, there were beautiful terraced gardens throughout the grounds with an overlook into the Yuba River Canyon.
Tulips, the supermodels of the flower world, are not just easy on the eyes but also come in a jaw-dropping array of hues. They're the floral equivalent of a color wheel gone wild.
Plan to Visit
Not only were the gardens full of tulips (about 17,000 of them) of every color and style, there were dahlias, wisteria, dogwood, rhododendrons, pansies, and so many more beautiful blooming plants. It was such a pleasure to walk around the grounds. We soaked in the peace, the sun, and the beauty we saw every direction we looked. If you ever have the opportunity to visit, be sure to go. Check the Ananda website for date and times beforehand.
