Iron Creek Falls | Long Exposure

While exploring the gorgeous landscape of Washington near Randle, we made our way down Forest Road 25 to Iron Creek Falls. It was just a short walk to the creek and falls from the parking lot. I loved the fact that this creek was fairly shallow. We were able to carefully walk across to the opposite side to get a different view of the falls. I think my favorite view, was straight on from the middle of the creek. Having worn my waders, I was able to set my tripod up in the middle of the creek for a long exposure image. Slowing the shutter to blur the water gives the falls such a peaceful, fine art expression.

Setting Up the Shots

~  Set white balance and exposure settings.~  Set up tripod in a stable place where the current isn't too strong.~  Adjust the polarizer to reveal the underwater rocks in the foreground, cutting the glare.~  Attach the camera to the tripod and adjust the shutter and exposure settings to achieve the amount of blur desired for the waterfall.~  Use a tether to release the shutter to avoid camera shake.~  Try a test shot, then adjust where necessary.
