Pear Still Life

If you are like me, you enjoy photographing still life subjects. For many people that includes food. I am not a food blogger per se, but I do like to use food as a subject. Creating recipes or showing the step-by-step process of making a dish is quite popular now. And, if you enjoy cooking (or baking), that is great! But, for me, I like using food as a subject. Hence, a pear still life is the subject here. No cooking or baking involved in this.

While taking a workshop from Christina Greve, I was introduced to the idea of photographing a subject within a box. The box creates such incredible, deep shadows, while allowing the highlights to emerge. I love the contrast that is created by controlling the light using a box.

After completing the video, I decided to increase the highlights and whites to help the image 'pop' a bit more.
