Remembering the Mono Lake Landscape

There is so much to see and photograph in the Eastern Sierra near Mammoth and Mono Lake. Although I didn't travel there this fall, I'm fondly remembering the Mono Lake landscape photographic opportunities there.

Mono Lake Landscape

The eastern Sierra is a huge draw in the autumn because of the beautiful fall color.  It's also a popular place to photograph the unique Mono Lake landscape. I had the opportunity early last month to photograph all the area has to offer. From the rugged tufas and amazing fall color to the wild horses in the area, there is always an abundance to see and photograph this time of year.

Hot Creek Geo Site

I visited this area on my last morning there. I headed out before sunset and arrived to set up in 19 degree weather. I'd love to go back when there is snow on the ground, but that might require a snowmobile given the distance off the main road.Hot Creek Geo Site near Mono LakeHot Creek Geo Site sunrise near Mono Lake  I also have Lewis Kemper to thank during this trip for showing me a few settings on my camera that I've been under utilizing. If you ever have the opportunity to listen to one of his lectures, read an article by him, watch a tutorial, or enjoy one of his many workshops, go for it! Having been a photographer for many years, Lewis knows his stuff! I hope you enjoyed remembering Mono Lake along with me.
