Waterfalls and Milky Way in Northern California
During August on a road trip north, I managed to stop to photograph a few waterfalls and the Milky Way. I was on my way to attend a workshop in the Mount Rainier National Park in Washington. Despite there being so little rain and snow in northern California, the waterfalls did not disappoint. And, the Milky Way, well, it's always awesome! (You can see my images of the Milky Way over Mt. Rainier in this post.) I have to say my trip started out quite well!
Burney Falls
I began my trip shooting Burney Falls. I'd been several times, but there always seems to be another angle or view to capture. This time I took the trail around and over the falls. Beautiful!

McCloud River Falls
There are three noted waterfalls on the McCloud River - the Upper, Middle and Lower falls. Although I had been to two of these falls before, I'd never seen the upper falls and wanted to photograph all three.

Fortunately, the moon was in its new phase making for some nicely dark sky over Mount Shasta.
