Surprise on the Beach

While exploring a new area on the Northern California coast, we saw horses in the distance along the water’s edge. Little did I anticipate this surprise on the beach. Hoping they were coming our way, I ran back to the car to get my camera. When I returned, sure enough, they were right there.

This was a first time visit for one of the horses, and he was not intimidated at all. I’d never have guessed that this was his first time experiencing the crashing waves. He went right in while the waves only got larger.

Everyone, including the rider’s family, her friend, my friend and me, seemed to be enjoying the experience. Then a huge wave came to shore, splashing both horse and rider.

And, before you know it, the two were separated! YIKES! Fortunately, everyone was just fine… but very surprised!

Soon the two were reunited and went on their way completely soaked as if nothing had happened. What a great surprise at the beach for everyone. Gratefully, the story had a very happy ending.
