Strawberry Shortcake | Foods of Summer Project
The topic of photography projects came up in a group in which I participate. I haven't done a project in quite some time. Long ago I pursued a 'benches' project. That was fun. Then I did a series of several posts I called, 'My Hometown'. That was fun too. I also began a project called 'Steadfast' and a few others that never really got off the ground. Now, this summer I've committed to doing a 'foods of summer' project. It will be comprised of 'food as art' types of images and also prepared food. There's almost never a day that I don't have an idea of what to photograph. Most often these ideas come 'in the moment'. That is, I don't have a preconceived idea of exactly what I'm going to photograph but something usually catches my eye. However, sometimes, the opposite can be true. I have no idea nor inspiration to make a photo about anything! That's where a photography project helps.Last week I stopped by The Nugget Market and bought everything I'd need to make strawberry shortcake. I cannot remember the last time I made or even ate shortcake. But it seemed like a very good topic for my foods of summer project. The strawberries smelled and looked amazing so I was excited to get home and get started. Here are the resulting images.

And, to make it a special 4th of July dessert, I added a few blueberries. I can assure you, it was heavenly! I just love edible photography subjects when they are this tasty!
