Bean Hollow State Beach

I have no idea why this beautiful, rugged beach is named Bean Hollow State Beach. It's rough and yet worn smooth at the same time. The water rushes into the little dips in the rocks filling the small pools, and just as fast, most of them empty out again. Some of the rocks have a burnt orange hue, while others are a very blue-gray. This area is full of mystery, and not a sandy beach to be seen while the smooth rocks and glassy pools of water change over and over with the tide.

Rocky Beach in Northern California

On the foggy morning of my visit, I had this beach to myself. I find it hard to refer to it as a beach; as to me, a beach is sand. This beach is clearly not that. As I walked over the jagged rocks, the colors and pools of seawater revealed themselves to me. It was a beautiful morning of discovery while searching every crevice and pool. "Beachology. Be shore of yourself. Don’t be crabby. Let the worries drift away. Drown out pier pressure. Soak up positive energy. Seas life’s moments." - Unknown
