When beginning photography, one of the earliest things you hear is that you need to learn about light. When I first heard that, I thought it was sort of ridiculous. Light is light, right? But, the important part as related to photography is to learn to see light the way your camera does. And, of course, to capture it in the best way possible. In these images, I have used side light. Moody side light can be very dramatic, but it doesn't have to be. Side light exposes all the nooks and crannies, the form and shape, the dimension and texture of your subject. After learning about light these past few years, it's easy to see how important light can be in creating the mood and feel of an image. If you want drama in your images, try moody side light.

George Eastman said it best, I think:

“ Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.”  ~  George Eastman
