Project 365, 2022, Weeks 36, 37, 38

Somehow these postings seem to have gotten away from me and I am so far behind. but, I decided to post a few each week until I’m caught up with shooting. Full disclosure - I did not finish this project. I began traveling and other things filled in the time that I would have been working on this. So, again, I’m clustering a few together in order to get caught up since I’m months behind in sharing this Project 365.

Week 36 - What would I have done without the flower volunteers in my little garden? I didn’t actually plant a cut garden in 2022 because of the drought. It was my small way of conserving water. And, fortunately for me, I have a local flower farm just minutes away so I am not without subjects.

Week 37 - More flowers from our local flower farm, Bloom Flower Farm, and a camping trip gave me subjects to shoot.

Week 38 - Looking at all these now, I’m sort of sad I didn’t continue with the project. It is just SO VERY time consuming. Obviously, this week I dusted off the macro lens and took advantage of the beautiful flowers in my yard along with a mushroom and tomato leaves.

Project 365, 2022, Weeks 36, 37, 38

Project 365, 2022, Weeks 33, 34 & 35

Project 365, 2022, Week 33 consists of birds and flowers, yes, once again. By now I’m sure you can tell which weeks are mostly spent near home and which are not. All but the owl were taken in my yard. She was shyly perched up in the shadows of a variety of cypress tree.

Project 365, 2022, Weeks 30, 31, and 32

I’m clustering a few together in order to get caught up since I’m about 3 months behind in sharing. Much like other weeks of Project 365, 2022, Week 30 was full of birds and flowers, flowers and birds. Often when I remain close to home, the resulting images are of similar subject matter. Although this week that was true, I did travel a bit for the owl image and achieved it with the help of a guide.

Project 365, 2022 Week 29

Wildlife is always a favorite subject, so I managed to photograph a few this week. While scouting for our upcoming Central California Coast photography workshop coming in February, I caught the sea otters hanging out in the harbor one early morning. Mostly they appeared pretty lazy although there was a little ruckus over a favorite spot which was soon settled.

Project 365, 2022, Week 28

Project 365, 2022, Week 28 continued with my trip to Glacier Bay, Alaska with a week full of wild animals, amazing landscapes, and glaciers.

Project 365, 2022, Week 27

This was my week in Glacier Bay NP, Alaska. So, a few of these are repeats from prior blog posts, and some are sneak peeks of what is to come! And, some are not the image of the day, but I just have so many I want to share that I included them too. Enjoy!

Project 365, 2022, Week 26

Week 26 included images taken with the Lensbaby Sweet 35 attached to a 12 mm extension tube. I also made visits to cemeteries to photograph headstones.

Project 365, 2022, Week 25

I visited a somewhat local park to photograph the lotus blossoms, but ended up liking the green foliage just as much. It’s a popular place with so many photographers wishing for that one special lotus image.

One of the benefits to shooting everyday is that I am forced to deal with various sources of light. It could be cloudy, bright sun, or golden light coming from different directions depending on the subject and the source of the light. In this Project 365, 2022, Week 23, I had shade, back light, bright sun, and wonderful golden hour light.

Project 365, 2022, Week 22

Welcome to Project 365, 2022, Week 22! This week included images from my yard including the rose-breasted grosbeak at the feeder using my Sigma 150-600mm lens and two images from the garden using the Lensbaby Sweet 35 with a 12mm extension tube.

Project 365, 2022, Week 21

The garden and yard were great sources for subject matter for Project 365, 2022, Week 21. Macro and long lenses to photograph flowers, insects, and birds.

Project 365, 2022, Week 20

Project 365, 2022, Week 20 included so many opportunities in multiple genres of photography. Most were right in my yard. I’ve dusted off my macro lens and worked intentionally with certain concepts in macro. Of course, flowers come to mind first. The intricacies of the flower blossoms just come to life with a macro lens. I’ve been taking a class on macro from Jenny W. It’s been a good refresher for me and I always enjoy seeing others’ work.

Project 365, 2022 | Week 19

Week 19 of Project 365, 2022 included so many opportunities in nature photography. For some I needed to travel a bit, but others were right in my yard. I’ve dusted off my macro lens and worked intentionally with certain concepts in macro.

The week began with a visit to photograph Hedge Creek Falls in Northern California.

Weeks 16 and 17 of Project 365 were full of macro, wildlife and landscape opportunities both near my home and at Yosemite NP.

Project 365, Weeks 13, 14, & 15

Project 365, Weeks 13, 14, and 15 are combined in this post while I play ‘Catch-Up’ for posting this project. Week 13 was spent mostly at home with some time in the Northern California mountains for the Waterfalls Workshop that was presented in March. You can find out more about it in this blog post Waterfalls Workshop. Fortunately, the flowers are beginning to bloom in my garden so I have subjects readily available for some macro work.
