Project 365, 2022, Week 26

Week 26, 2022, was full of macro work and a little experimentation. I usually use my Canon 100 2.8L macro lens whenever I’m wanting to photograph things close-up. But, this week I experimented with using the Lensbaby Sweet 35 with a 12 mm extension tube. I was pretty happy with most of the images that resulted. This combination gave me the up-close view I wanted and the slight blur that I like in my macro images.

Ancestor Search

It turned out to be a fun week with my cousin visiting. She is the keeper of our family ancestry history, artifacts, stories, photos, and information. She wanted to visit some old cemeteries where some of our ancestors are buried. So, we began to search out gravestones of family members before us. It turned out to be quite a lucrative search! In fact, we found ancestors’ graves for whom we were not even looking. Because she studies this information, she knew and recognized the names and the connections of various family ancestors. With the help of the cemetery’s caretaker, we were quite successful.

We took photos of the cemeteries and the gravestones. It was a good time for piecing together some family history, and remembering antics of when we were little as well as family gatherings that included multiple generations. As kids we were fortunate enough to live by one another, our grandparents, and some of my grandmother’s uncles and aunt. Reminiscing about those times was so enjoyable. It also left us thinking that we need to do it again and search out other grave sites of family members, only wishing that our grandparents were still here to tell us the stories we tried hard to remember.

Here are the images from Week 26.
