Big Sur Workshop Opening!
After much discussion, planning, exploring, and scouting, my good friend, Amy Ames Photography and I are holding a photography workshop/retreat/adventure on the Central California Coast which includes Big Sur, Pacific Grove, Monterey, Point Lobos, and surrounding areas! Mark your calendars for this February for an amazing adventure on the Central California Coast.
Monterey Bay Walk-and-Shoot
While visiting the central coast, we went on a little Monterey Bay Walk-and-Shoot. We stayed mostly in the Pacific Grove area, and there was plenty to see. Have you ever tried to capture the waves when they are making just the right action you want to capture? It's tough! You have to anticipate what the water is going to do. Needless to say, I had plenty of images to choose from when it came to water patterns as the waves spilled over the rocks. Then we ventured down to the wharf.
Great Gray Owls of Alberta
The roads were icy, the air was freezing, and there was snow everywhere. We arrived in Calgary just after their first major snow storm of the season. In the early morning hours while it was still dark, our guide picked us up and we were on our way to find, see, and photograph the Great Gray Owls of Alberta that live in the forests an hour or so outside of Calgary.
Visiting the Town of Mendocino in northern California
When first visiting the little northern California town of Mendocino, one gets the feeling that there is something just a little bit different and special about this community. The buildings are old, but well kept. Some people say it reminds them of an old east coast village yet with a personality all its own. It's a perfect place to take a leisurely walk, peer into the windows of the shops, and visit the variety of restaurants there. It's also the perfect place to view the rocky cliffs or walk along the sandy beaches of northern California. Your senses are not bombarded with commercial hooks to pull you in, but rather a quaint invitation to explore and enjoy.
Project 365, 2022, Weeks 33, 34 & 35
Project 365, 2022, Week 33 consists of birds and flowers, yes, once again. By now I’m sure you can tell which weeks are mostly spent near home and which are not. All but the owl were taken in my yard. She was shyly perched up in the shadows of a variety of cypress tree.
