Bison | Surviving Winter in Yellowstone National Park
Unlike the summer months when the national parks are teaming with visitors, winter brings far fewer visitors. In fact, in Yellowstone NP, the public is required to enter the park only with a licensed guide from December 15 through March 15. It’s easy to see why with the amount of snowfall that the park gets. For us, traveling in the park in winter requires specialized vehicles - snow coaches. For the animals it all about surviving winter in Yellowstone National Park.
Bursting Blooms | Almond Orchards
If you are fortunate enough to live near an orchard of almond trees, you know what a treat it is when they have bursting blooms. Every winter we wait in anticipation of the blooming almond orchards. They have the softest color and are mildly fragrant. Now is that time, and the blooms do not last very long. It's been a hard winter with all the wind, but I found a day recently to photograph these beautiful trees.
Autumn Views in Lassen Volcanic National Park
Last October, I held my annual one-day Waterfalls Workshop in Northern California. It’s a day of photographing waterfalls, learning techniques, meeting new friends, and enjoying just being in the mountains. It’s a gorgeous time of year with the color change. Several of the workshop members decided to stay to photograph and enjoy the area for another day. Thinking this was a fabulous idea, I decided to stay as well to enjoy the autumn views in nearby Lassen Volcanic National Park.
