Capturing May: A Look Back Through my Lens
May came and went in a blink, but not without leaving behind quiet stories, unexpected beauty, and fleeting moments that deserved to be paused. As I sift through the images captured in May, I can appreciate all that the month held for me including trips to Utah and (just-for-fun-non-photography) Tennessee, a bit of macro, mentoring sessions, and a commercial shoot. (Not shown here.) It was a BIG month and I’m still not quite finished with all the editing.
May has always been a month of transition. Here in Northern California, it carries the last bits of spring and the first glimpses of summer. Trees and flowers are really showing off. People linger longer outside as the days get longer and warmer. There’s a sense of something beginning, though it hasn’t fully arrived yet. There’s a clear sense of the world waking up and yet getting ready to relax at the same time.
Photography has a way of anchoring time, giving us something to return to long after the feeling has passed. Looking at these images now, I’m reminded of how important it is to slow down and notice. To capture, not just what we see, but what we feel, and to appreciate all that is around us.

During March it was definitely more difficult to keep up my daily shooting/editing practice, but I’m very close! Spring continues to make her entrance and the days are beginning to get warm in comparison to just a month or two ago.
After reviewing my 2024, I realized that I really only picked up my camera when I was traveling. So, I decided to commit loosely to a daily shooting practice.
Ah, the joys of embarking on a daily photography project! In January 2025, I decided to challenge myself to capture a unique photo every single day. After reviewing my 2024, I realized that I really only picked up my camera when I was traveling.
From time to time, I like to take a look back at my photography. It helps me see growth and also areas that need improvement. Recently, I did a screening of my work looking for the best of the best technically. That prompted sharing this blog post. Enjoy!
Daily shooting in December 2020 has come to an end and with that, the end to this 366 project. All in all, it's been fairly easy, but I don't plan to do another one in 2021.
Daily shooting in September 2020 offered time to explore so many different genres in photography.
Daily shooting in August 2020 offered time to explore so many different genres in photography. When I first picked up a camera several years ago, I shot daily in order to learn as much as I could.
