Forests of the Northern California State Parks

Surrounding oneself with nature is a sure way to renew, de-stress, and relax. That is exactly how I felt while visiting the beautiful coast and forests of the Northern California State Parks last summer. Because it is a bit remote in many areas, there is no cell coverage and no internet. Being completely 'unplugged' allowed me to really be present in those amazing locations. Fresh air, sunlight streaming through the branches, and the sounds of the forest all contribute to a sense of well-being.

Forest Bathing

In fact there is a phrase used now coined by the Japanese for this practice of time spent thoughtfully in the forest - Forest Bathing. It refers to taking in the forest through all our senses. It's not jogging or exercising in the forest, but merely being in nature and taking it all in.

Take Good Care of Our Northern California Parks

Even a small amount of time spent in nature is beneficial to us. So, get out there and enjoy all that nature has to offer while remembering to leave it as clean and unaffected as you found it. Leave no trace of being there so others who come after may enjoy the same beauty as you have.I'm so grateful that we have our Northern California State Parks to enjoy, a well as our National Parks. Let's take care of them.

“A grove of giant redwoods or sequoias should be kept just as we keep a great or beautiful cathedral.”

- Theodore Roosevelt
