Capturing July: A Look Back Through my Lens

Oh, my!!! I’m so far behind! But, here we go…

July came and went in a whirlwind, but not without leaving behind quiet stories, unexpected beauty, and fleeting moments that deserved to be paused. As I search through the images captured in July, I can appreciate all that the month held for me. Although I didn’t get out to shoot daily nor as often as I like, it was still a rich month for photography.

Here in Northern California, July brings full summer weather and activities. Trees and flowers are really showing off. People linger longer outside since the day are longer and vacation time is here. There’s a sense of something beginning, and yet ending all at once. It’s sort of the half-way mark in summer. There’s a clear sense of the world waking up and yet getting ready to relax at the same time.

Photography has a way of anchoring time, giving us something to return to long after the feeling has passed. Looking at these images now, I’m reminded of how important it is to slow down and notice everything in my surroundings. To capture, not just what we see, but what we feel, and to appreciate all that is around us.
