Capturing August: A Look Back Through my Lens

Oh, my!!! Trying to get caught up… I’m so far behind!

August came and went in a whirlwind, but not without leaving behind quiet stories, unexpected beauty, and fleeting moments that deserved to be shared. As I search through the images captured in August, I can appreciate all that the month held for me. Although I didn’t get out to shoot daily nor as often as I like, it was still a rich month for photography.

Here in Northern California, August brings full summer weather and activities. Flowers are really showing off. People linger longer outside if it’s not too hot since the days are longer and vacation time is here. There’s a sense of something about to end, so it’s time for getting in those last days of summer exploration, camping, and vacationing before autumn arrives.

Photography has a way of anchoring time, giving us something to return to long after the feeling has passed. Looking at these images now, I’m reminded of how important it is to slow down and notice everything in my surroundings. To capture, not just what we see, but what we feel, and to appreciate all that is around us.

Adventures in August 2025

Although I had lots of little photography moments, my trip to Oregon to the Swan Island Dahlia Farm reaped so many photos as did the Oregon Garden Resort where I stayed. But, first, a few photos of some mushrooms that were growing close t o home on the orchard floor.

Next, it was a visit to the Park Winters Flower Farm.

The grounds at the Oregon Garden Resort were loaded with photography subjects.

Next came my visit to the Swan Island Dahlia Gardens.

Lovely white hydrangea at the gardens.

Thanks for visiting my little corner of the World Wide Web!
