Exploring Dead Horse Point State Park | Northern California Landscape Photographer

Back to Utah! Nestled in the heart of Utah, Dead Horse Point State Park is a breathtaking destination that offers stunning vistas, exhilarating outdoor activities, and a rich history. Whether you’re an avid hiker, a photography enthusiast, or simply looking to escape into nature, this park is a must-visit. After photographing the stars in Arches NP, we headed to Dead Horse Point State Park for sunrise.

Stunning Scenic Views

One of the main attractions of Dead Horse Point State Park is its panoramic views of the Colorado River and the surrounding canyonlands. The iconic viewpoint offers a breathtaking overlook that is particularly stunning at sunrise and sunset. Upon arriving at this Utah State Park, the main problem I had was deciding where to photograph first! Each direction I looked held a promising composition. It is definitely one of those places where visiting and exploring several times would be beneficial to any photographer, hiker, or naturalist.

The canyon transformed quickly as the sun methodically rose. This was definitely a time to compose, shoot, and move on to the next breathtaking scene as the photographic opportunities were seemingly endless. Yet, all too soon, it was time to leave and head to our next adventure.

Tips for Visiting Dead Horse Point State Park
