Exploring Arches National Park: A Must-See Journey to Double Arch & Windows

Arches National Park is renowned for its stunning red rock formations, sculpted over millions of years by wind and erosion. It’s a paradise for hikers, photographers, and anyone who loves dramatic landscapes. The park offers a variety of trails, from easy walks to more challenging hikes, making it accessible for all fitness levels.

If you're planning a trip to Arches National Park, you're in for an unforgettable adventure. Located just outside of Moab, Utah, this geological wonderland is home to over 2,000 natural stone arches. Among the most iconic and easily accessible are Double Arch and the formations in the Windows Section—a must-see part of any Arches itinerary.

Discovering Double Arch

Double Arch is one of the most impressive and unique features in the park. This massive structure consists of two arches that share the same stone base, creating a cathedral-like canopy that soars nearly 112 feet high. It’s not only one of the tallest arches in the park, but it’s also famous for its appearance in movies like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Standing beneath it is a humbling experience that offers a unique perspective of nature’s raw power. If you look closely, you’ll see workshop leader, Nate Luebbe, standing on a huge rock below the arches giving such great scale.

Windows Section

Just a short walk from Double Arch lies The Windows Section, home to some of the park’s most photogenic arches:

  • North Window

  • South Window

  • Turret Arch

This area offers a relatively easy hike and an up-close look at multiple formations with minimal effort. Enjoy some of the best, easy hikes and photo ops in the American Southwest. If you are looking for a challenge, climb through Window Arch, then turn around to photograph Turret Arch within the opening.

Visiting Double Arch and the Windows Section in Arches National Park is more than just checking off famous landmarks—it’s about connecting with nature in one of the most beautiful places on Earth. From short hikes to jaw-dropping views, these formations showcase the very best of what Utah has to offer.

Don’t forget your camera—and your sense of wonder.
