Manzanita Lake in Lassen | Northern California Landscape Photography

The roads and trails close during the winter in Mount Lassen Volcanic National Park. But, if you'd like to snowshoe, cross-country ski, or walk the trails, you are welcome to do so. When I arrived at Manzanita Lake, the small parking lot contained two other cars. I knew it would be a great day to enjoy the snow and sun at the lake while being surrounded in nature dressed in snow.

Utilizing long exposures for the above images helped to slow down the movement of the water.

Intimate landscapes with a telephoto lens captured the ice, snow, and trees on the side of the sleeping volcano.

My view of Manzanita Lake, frozen and covered with snow from the trail. The bare trees lended themselves as subjects for some in-camera motion creating a blur of the snowy landscape.

I set up my tripod to capture myself in this lovely winter scene of snow and sun.

Get out there and enjoy a wonderful winter season!
