The beach is one of my favorite landscapes to visit and to photograph. I've been shooting there since I first began learning photography. Here are a few recommendations for things I've learned about photographing at the beach.
Toward the top of the rolling hills near the coast, my friend and I discovered yet another cemetery that had been part of the community for a very long time. While the sun was shining maybe a bit too strongly and the breeze was blowing just perfectly, I felt such peace in this lovely location. The headstones in the cemetery were modest although there was plenty of evidence of love and remembrance. Many of the headstones were handmade/carved; some were painted, some were not. I don't usually convert my images, but this set seemed to tell the story best in black and white.

While visiting the central coast, we went on a little Monterey Bay Walk-and-Shoot. We stayed mostly in the Pacific Grove area, and there was plenty to see. Have you ever tried to capture the waves when they are making just the right action you want to capture? It's tough! You have to anticipate what the water is going to do. Needless to say, I had plenty of images to choose from when it came to water patterns as the waves spilled over the rocks. Then we ventured down to the wharf.
