Spring | To Everything There is a Season | Northern California Fine Art Photography
These words are running through my head right now: To everything there is a season. Spring 2025 begins as winter officially ends. Time marches on. To everything there is a season. Spring is always hard for me as it has been a season of several personal losses. Yet it’s a time for rebirth, to get outside, plant my gardens, and enjoy our beautiful weather. There are signs of new life and growth all around. Goodbye to ‘old man winter’ and hello to spring. Yes, to everything there is a season.
Spring is a time of renewal and rebirth, symbolizing hope and new beginnings. Its cultural representations and impact on nature and human psychology are profound. The arrival of spring brings a burst of color and life to the natural world, lifting our spirits and invigorating our senses. Its effects on human psychology remind us of the interconnectedness between ourselves and the environment.
Embrace Spring
As spring arrives, nature begins to awaken from its winter slumber. Signs such as blossoming flowers, returning migratory birds, and bustling wildlife remind us of the vitality of the season. As spring unfolds, there are endless opportunities to immerse ourselves in the beauty and vibrancy of the season. There is nothing quite like spring green landscapes. Engaging in activities like gardening and attending spring festivals allows us to celebrate nature's renewal.
Spring has a way of awakening our senses, renewing our spirits, and reminding us of the beauty in growth and change. Embrace this season of transformation and let it inspire you to bloom brightly in all areas of your life. As we bid farewell to winter and embrace the arrival of spring, let us revel in the beauty of this season of growth and new beginnings. Whether through engaging in outdoor activities, practicing mindfulness, or simply basking in the splendor of blooming flowers, let the spirit of spring inspire us to embrace change and welcome the opportunities that come with each new season. May we carry the essence of spring's renewal in our hearts as we look forward to the cycles of nature's ever-changing tapestry.
“To everything turn, turn, turn
There is a season turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under Heaven.
A time to be born, a time to die,
A time to plant, a time to reap,
A time to kill, a time to heal,
A time to laugh, a time to weep,
To everything turn, turn, turn
There is a season turn, turn, turn
And a time to every purpose under Heaven...”

It’s past time to tear out the gardens - both the floral cutting garden and the vegetable garden. (My tomatoes are going crazy!!!) After all, it’s November! But, each time I go out to the garden and assess what I need to get started removing the old plants, I see bees, ladybugs, and butterflies. I just cannot begin to remove their food source.
Looking for a photography subject? Not sure what to photograph? Do your kids and grandkids or pets run and hide when the camera comes out? Look no further than your own garden, the farmers' market, and yes, even the grocery store for fantastic photography subjects.
One of the most enchanting aspects of spring is the opportunity to witness new life in the form of baby animals. From fluffy chicks to playful calves, the sight of these adorable babies in spring never fails to bring joy and wonder to our hearts.
Last winter and spring, I prepared my vegetable and flower garden plots for the upcoming growing season. Nothing too big nor fancy, but just the right size to enjoy. With all plans I still just never know what the end result may look like. As well intentioned as I am about caring for my gardens, they sometimes end up being neglected.

Fresh in my garden, bachelor buttons self-seed every year. They make beautiful subjects for still life when fresh or dried.
